Membership Criteria

The Chief membership experience is tailored for individuals holding senior leadership roles within their organizations. We carefully evaluate applicants for executive seniority to ensure that our members receive support from genuine peers. A variety of factors are considered to assess whether your seniority aligns with the criteria of the Chief community. These factors include:

  • The most frequently held titles among our members are CXO and VP; we seek an equivalent title within your organization, industry, or geographical area.
  • This is determined by the number of full-time employees.
  • We allow a maximum of five levels from the CEO, which may vary depending on company size.
  •  A minimum of ten full-time employees is required, though this may vary with company size.
  • This encompasses your titles, scope of work, and the progression of responsibilities throughout your career.

For employees of very small businesses (defined as those with fewer than 30 full-time employees), we invite applicants whose experience in the past two years meets our membership criteria or whose current business has generated $2 million or more in annual revenue during the last fiscal year. Additional information or documentation may be requested to evaluate both current and past experiences.
